Fiaiano - Comune of Barano
Ischia Travel Guide Besides having a melodic name, Fiaiano offers some of the most spectacular views of the world beyond Ischia. From there, you can take beautiful portraits of Vesuvius either by day or twilight. Aspiring photographers will be in awe of the pineta di Fiaiano or pine forest. The pine trees in Ischia are spectacular, and you'll find the largest concentration here. If you are a nature lover, you can also find the road to Buceto, practically untouched mountainous woodlands. The hike is another tough one, but it's well worth it. You'll find a fountain with the crispest, freshest water you've ever tasted, lovely flowers and plenty of space to start a fire and have a barbecue. Nonno Giovanni had a small cantina there, and he would bring my father and all of his siblings to camp out and celebrate special holidays. My father still says he longs to live in Buceto, far from hectic everyday life. I don't know about living up there, but it certainly makes for an idyllic day trip.
