    Ischia Travel Guide

Ischia might be an island, but it's far from isolated. Its neighbors are a boat ride away and are among the world's most beautiful destinations. Here are a few day trips for you to consider when staying in Ischia:

    Napoli
Some Americans think of gritty Napoli as a destination to avoid. But the city is charming and warm, especially for Italian Americans, many of whom can trace their roots back to Napoli. From the underground tours to Vesuvius, the city is full of wonders that travelers can enjoy. Be sure to sample the coronetti and espresso for breakfast. And pick up a hand-carved figurine for your nativity scene or presepio.

    The Amalfi Coast
Americans adore the Amalfi Coast with its bluer than blue water and cozy yet luxurious villas. You can check out Sofia Loren's digs and swim in the ocean for hours. In Sorrento, there is a school for those who want to learn to speak Italian. You don't have to worry, however. Many of the locals speak English in this area.

    Capri
The most obvious and most famous of all of Ischia's neighbors, Capri is synonymous with the world's jet set. The island, which is significantly smaller than Ischia, has attracted everyone from Hollywood's elite to Europe's dignitaries and royalty. Tasting gelato near the bell tower, wandering through the villas that are open to the public, and picnicking in the hills are among the best ways to spend a day in Capri. Window shopping is also an option, but the designer prices might give you a heart attack.

    Procida
The setting for the famous film Il Postino, Procida is even smaller than Capri. But it's a lovely place to visit. You will smell the sweet lemons that fill the island before the boat even docks. The larger ones are delicious with a bit of sugar covering them. And the bright yellow lemons make for great photos.
