Rome
Rome, which is the capital of Italy and the Lazio region, is the countries largest and most populous city. It is also happens to be the spiritual capital of the Roman Catholic Church. Rome is located in the central part of Italy where the Tiber and Aniene rivers meet approximately 15 miles from the Tyrrhenian Sea, which is on the west coast. As legend states the city was founded by the twins Romulus and Remus in 753 BC on the Palatine Hill. An important feature of the city is the famed Seven Hills of Rome that the city is built on. The hills are called Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline, Esquiline, Palatine, Quarinal, and Viminal. This 22 page Web Guide has information on a variety of topics to help you learn more about this artistically rich city. It also is a great starting place to help you plan your trip to Rome. Each page in this guide will contain the navigational table below so you can effectively maneuver your way to the various sections of this guide.
