  • Negroni
    Ingredients
    • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
    • 1 ounce Campari
    • 1 ounce gin
    • Orange slice
    Legend/Story
As with many great cocktails there is always a story or legend that tells us how this great drink was born. The Negroni is no different. As the story goes one fateful day in Florence between 1919 and 1920 Count Camillo Negroni, who enjoyed drinking an Americano, asked the bartender to give it more of a kick by adding a shot of gin. The bartender made the drink for the Count, he took one sip and this new concoction became his favorite drink. From there on it became known as the Negroni.
    Preparation
Pour the gin into an old fashioned glass filled with ice, this is sometimes referred to as a lowball glass or rocks glass. It is a glass in which you would serve a drink over ice. Add the Campari and vermouth at the same time Garnish with an orange slice.

There are some variations to this. Some people prefer to place the ingredients in a shaker and lightly shake it before straining it into a rocks glass. You can also twist and squeeze the orange over the Negroni before dropping it in the drink. The oils from the skin will enhance the flavor of the drink.

In just a short few minutes you have created your very own Negroni.
